8,500 years of cultural richness comes to light with Bornova Miras
Bornova Municipality Museum Directorate is preparing to introduce "Bornova Miras" (Bornova Heritage) — a project developed to make visible and transmit to future generations Bornova's 8,500-year past.
"Bornova Miras" brings together the city's cultural wealth — from archaeological sites to Levantine mansions, from museums to shrines — under a single umbrella. The specially designed logo, Bornova Heritage Map and website prepared within the project aim to strengthen the visitor experience by making Bornova's magnificent heritage accessible both digitally and on the ground. Supported by oral narratives and visual content, the project addresses restoration, promotion and awareness-raising with an integrated approach.
Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said: "Our cultural heritage is the main pillar of our urban identity. With 'Bornova Miras' we are making this wealth visible, comprehensible and accessible to everyone. At the launch event we shall take the first step of this great journey together."
At the heart of the project lie the Bornova Heritage Map and a user-friendly website. They transform the journey of discovery into an experience, with the story of each stop told through oral narratives and carefully selected visuals.
Key components of the project
- Bornova Heritage Map: A visual guide composed of walkable, thematic stops that brings together Bornova's historic sites on a single map.
- Website: A platform enriched with oral narratives and content for each stop, giving the project a digital life.
- On-site and digital experience: The opportunity to discover the heritage both in person and online, through restoration, promotion and awareness-raising activities.
