“Bornova Heritage” Walks Drew Great Interest
History, Nature and Sport Met on the Same Route in Bornova!
As part of the Bornova Heritage project, we journeyed through Bornova’s millennia-old history together with our fellow residents along our cultural routes! During Museums Week, we explored our city’s cultural heritage together on routes stretching from Yeşilova Mound to Yassıtepe, from Levantine mansions to historic stops.
Hundreds of residents who joined our events discovered the city’s historical and cultural treasures—such as Bornova’s landmark sites Yeşilova Mound, Yassıtepe Mound, and the Dramalılar Mansion City Archive and Museum—accompanied by expert guides. The people of Bornova both found the chance to exercise surrounded by nature and set off on an unforgettable journey into the deep-rooted past of the city they live in.
Mayor Ömer Eşki: “We Keep Bornova’s Heritage Alive Together”
Emphasising that protecting Bornova’s historical and natural assets and sharing them with citizens is one of his greatest priorities, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said the following after the events:
“Bornova is not merely a district; it is a great cultural treasure that lives and breathes through its millennia-old past. As we protect this heritage, we also want our citizens to come to know these values by experiencing and feeling them. With the Bornova Heritage events, we brought history, nature, sport and urban culture together on a single route. Events like these strengthen our sense of belonging to the city. We will continue our work without slowing down to create a healthier, greener Bornova that embraces its history and has a strong sense of belonging.”
We Will Keep Exploring Bornova!
We thank all our fellow residents who took part in our events and embraced Bornova’s heritage.
