The Pınarbaşı Bathhouse is situated in the Gürpınar neighbourhood of Bornova. Although neither its architect nor its precise date of construction is known, it is thought to have been built between the 16th and 19th centuries. The structure is one of the examples of historic water architecture in Bornova.
The building had been abandoned over time and sustained damage from damp and moisture. In 2012, however, it was restored by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and returned to use.
