The Whittall Mansion was built in the second half of the 19th century by the English-origin Whittall family. The family were an important Levantine dynasty who amassed their wealth through the cotton trade in İzmir.
Built in the Neo-classical style, the mansion is notable for its spacious garden, columned façade and elegant interiors. The two-storey building reflects the luxury living of the period.
The mansion is today situated within the Ege University campus and hosts various academic events.
