Situated on 2nd and 3rd Streets in the Erzene neighbourhood, Dramalılar Mansion dates to between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, though its precise year of construction is not known. The complex comprises a main building, bathhouse, outbuildings, stables and entrance structures. The south-west elevation opens onto a front courtyard, whilst the north-east elevation gives onto a rear courtyard.
Before 1922, the mansion belonged to a Greek family resident in Bornova. Following the population exchange, the Dramalı family, who arrived from Drama, settled in the building, and the mansion takes its name from them. The family lived in the mansion for approximately ninety years, during which time its original outbuildings, bathhouse and courtyard layout were preserved.
Purchased by Bornova Municipality in 2010, the mansion was comprehensively restored and repurposed for cultural and artistic use.
According to art historians, Dramalılar Mansion displays eclectic architectural characteristics.
The complex includes:
The plan of the main building features rooms arranged around a large central hall. High ceilings, fireplaces in certain rooms, and the combination of stone walls with timber supports bring together Levantine and Ottoman residential character.
The small bathhouse in the garden was used for many years not only by the family but also by the wider neighbourhood.
Following restoration, Dramalılar Mansion has become one of Bornova's most active cultural and artistic venues.
Today, the mansion welcomes visitors as a distinctive cultural space that keeps Bornova's artistic and historical heritage alive.
