Located at the entrance of Fevzi Cakmak Avenue, the Pasquali (Barry) Mansion was built between 1835 and 1840 by merchant Giuseppe Pasquali, who migrated from the island of Chios to Izmir. After Giovanni Pasquali's death in 1925, the mansion passed to his family and was expropriated in 1941 and transferred to the Bornova Agricultural School. Today it operates as a private cafe-restaurant.
The Pasquali (Barry) Mansion stands at the entrance to Bornova centre from the Ankara Avenue direction on Fevzi Çakmak Avenue, at a point popularly known as "Mahfel." It was built between 1835 and 1840 by the merchant Giuseppe Pasquali, who had migrated from the island of Chios to İzmir.
Following Giuseppe Pasquali, the building was used by his son Giovanni Pasquali and daughter-in-law Giulia Pasquali (Barry).
After Giovanni's death in 1925, the mansion passed to his wife and their three children Rene, Christine and Joseph.
In 1941 it was compulsorily purchased by the Treasury of the Republic of Turkey and placed at the disposal of the Bornova Agricultural School.
During the widening of the Ankara road, approximately one-third of the mansion's garden was lost. This intervention narrowed the distance between the building and the avenue, partially disrupting the original garden layout.
The mansion is today in the ownership of Ege University and, as of 2025, is operated as a private café-restaurant. The building's original plan has been preserved, whilst the garden section has been arranged as an outdoor seating area.
